Briercrest Seminary Announces Tuition Fee Change

Posted: June 3, 2025

Briercrest Seminary has introduced a revised tuition structure designed to make in-person education as accessible as possible while addressing the financial demands of seminary education. This change reflects Briercrest Seminary's commitment to fostering meaningful, in-person academic and spiritual experiences while continuing to support flexible online learning opportunities.

The new policy will reduce tuition fees for in-person courses, while increasing fees for online courses by a small amount. This adjustment is part of a strategic effort to balance the cost of education and prioritize the unique benefits that come with on-campus learning.

Dr. Jason Mills, Dean of the Seminary, explained the adjustments. “While we love the opportunities that online education provides for students across Canada, we also recognise the importance of gathering together in person. There are certain fundamental experiences and community moments in an in-person environment that simply can't be replicated online.”

The seminary acknowledges the growing number of students who travel to campus for intensive week-long courses, often incurring additional costs for transportation and accommodation. By lowering the tuition fees for in-person sessions, Briercrest aims to alleviate some of the financial burden these students face.

“More and more, we see students driving in or flying in to attend classes on campus,” said Dr. Mills. “We want to ensure that we can make this experience as accessible as possible. That’s why we are adjusting tuition fees to reflect these considerations.”

Online courses will continue to be a vital part of the seminary's offerings, especially for students who require flexibility to balance their studies with other commitments. The slight increase in tuition for these courses will help sustain the affordability of in-person studies while maintaining the quality of online programs.

The seminary encourages students to reach out with any questions or concerns about these changes. “We are here to support you and help you in your learning,” Dr. Mills affirmed.

With this updated tuition structure, Briercrest continues to prioritize its mission of providing Christ-centred education while adapting to the evolving needs of its student community.
