Preparing for Registration Day

Let love be genuine. Abhor what is evil; hold fast to what is good. Love one another with brotherly affection. Outdo one another in showing honor. Do not be slothful in zeal, be fervent in spirit, serve the Lord. Rejoice in hope, be patient in tribulation, be constant in prayer. Contribute to the needs of the saints and seek to show hospitality" (Romans 12:9-13, ESV).

I did a little bit of research on the biblical word 'hospitality' and I was quickly overwhelmed by the richness and breadth of this act. In Scripture, hospitality is a beautiful quality that God exhibits. God is pictured as a divine host. The hospitality which Israel and later the church were to show involved caring for guests, aliens, the poor, and strangers. There was a spirit of welcome and acceptance. Food, lodging, and shelter was often provided.

Well, last week we began to see our student leaders and athletes return to campus. Today is our College registration and tomorrow we will register CHS. We will have anxious parents, proud grandparents, and excited siblings here to offer support to our new and returning students. I think we do an outstanding job of Week of Welcome and I am grateful to all of you for your friendliness, servant-spirit, and meticulous planning.

I love the acronym 'WOW' for our Week of Welcome. Today, let's WOW our guest. Let's create a great first impression for those who have never been here before and let's offer a warm embrace to our returning students. Together, let's roll out Briercrest hospitality at its best!

Partnering together to create a warm and welcoming environment this week and always,

Michael
